This article analyzes the recent trend that has motivated banks to identify and manage all kinds of risks, and, in particular, climatic and environmental risks, in the context of the expansion of the sustainable finance paradigm and, related to this, of increasing investment, regulatory and supervisory pressure. All this is illustrated by taking as an example the “Guide on climate-related and environmental risks”, published by the European Central Bank, in its supervisory role, at the end of November 2020.
